Poker is a card game played by a group of people around a table. Each player is dealt two cards, and the highest hand wins the pot.<\/p>\n
During play, a player has the option of using up to three of his or her cards, and may discard all or part of their hand. The best hand is usually a straight, flush, or five-card draw. A player can also bluff by betting that he or she has a better hand than others.<\/p>\n
In poker, players use a standard deck of 52 cards. Each card has a numerical rank, with Ace as the lowest. Ties among identical hands are broken by the highest unmatched card.<\/p>\n
After the first round of betting, the dealer shuffles the deck. He or she deals the cards face up, with the exception of a jack. Afterwards, the dealer reshuffles the deck again.<\/p>\n
Once the dealer has completed the second round of betting, the players continue to bet. If no one calls the bet, a showdown is held, where the hand is revealed.<\/p>\n
A player may call the bet, or raise it. A player who raises may also have to pay the ante, a small wager. Usually, a player will bet $1 or $5 for each ante.<\/p>\n
After the final round of betting, a showdown is held. During the showdown, a player with the best hand takes the pot. Occasionally, players will also have a side pot. This pot is created from the additional money bet by the remaining players.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
