Poker is a card game in which players compete to make the best hand of five cards. There are various variations of this game, some of which are played in private homes, while others are played in casinos and clubs.<\/p>\n
Players start by putting in an ante. The amount of ante varies with the type of poker game being played. In some games, the ante is fixed at a certain value, while in other games it may be lowered or increased as the betting continues.<\/p>\n
In most games, the deck of cards is 52 cards, with four different suits. Players are dealt one card face-down, with another card face-up. After the first round of dealing, a betting interval occurs. This is a time when all but one player can fold.<\/p>\n
Poker is usually played with chips. Chips are easier to keep track of than money, and they are easier to change. When players are in a tight spot, they may choose to bluff. That is, they will bet that their hand is the best, in an attempt to draw other players to the pot.<\/p>\n
Poker also includes forced bets. These include ante and blind bets. The bet can be a ‘blind’ bet, in which a player bets into the pot without revealing his or her hand, or a ‘forced’ bet, in which a bet is placed into the pot by a player who has already folded.<\/p>\n
